What is BHRT?
Biologically identical hormones are used in an individualized approach to balance hormone deficiency. The differences between synthetic and biologically identical hormones are in their chemical structures and functionality in the body. Biological identical hormones have the same chemical structures as the hormones created naturally in the human body.
What is a pellet?
The estrogen, testosterone, and other hormones used in BHRT come from natural plant resources- yam. They match human hormones. Synthetic pharmaceutical hormones do not have the same chemical structures as produced by the human body. Wells Pharmacy is a FDA registered 503B Facility dedicated for sterile, high-quality pellet production. The hormones are pressed into very small pellets the size of a grain of rice. Pellets are implanted into the subcutaneous tissue of gluteal or abdominal regions with a simple office procedure.

When the body needs estrogen or testosterone, tiny pellets placed under the skin consistently release small doses of hormones. Pellet insertion is an in-office procedure done under local anesthesia. The pellets are inserted under the skin the upper buttocks/hip area through a tiny incision. The incision is then closed with steri-strips. Patients do not feel the implants under their skin. Once inserted, a steady, low dose of natural hormones flows directly into the blood stream whenever the body can then control the release of the hormone.

You may be required to undergo a baseline ultrasound of your uterus and have your mammogram up to date. Based on your existing hormone levels and health history we will make a recommendation. Hormone levels will be reevaluated prior to each forthcoming pellet insertion.
